Because gay excludes lesbians, bisexuals, and transgendered individuals, and queer is a reclaimed term. LGBTQ is too long, confusing, and not recognized as much as queer. 2. How did queerTX.org get started? queerTX (originally queerUT) was launched October 3, 2001 right before Pride Week as a place to bring people together. Each October, the queerTX community holds a rally, workshops, lectures and parties around October 11: National Coming Out Day. In October 2001 it became PRIDE WEEK on UT-Austin's campus. Affiliations UT-Austin queerTX (www.queerTX.org) is in no way affiliated with the University of Texas at Austin. As such your browsing here will never be associated with your official UT records in any way. Hacking Any attempt to 'hack' or otherwise maliciously alter, deface or delete the database or any and all files at this site will be immediately reported to the Internet Fraud Complaint Center and the FBI.
