There's been a lot of debate over using the word queer. Some people are offended by our use of
that word. Queer is an all-inclusive term whereas gay is not. Gay tends to include gays,
lesbians, and bisexuals, but leaves out transgendered people. Queer is also a reclaimed term -
one we use to define ourselves so that others can't use it to demean us.When we identify as
Queer it in no way means that we have internalized homophobia or a lack of self-respect. On the
contrary, it's our way of throwing a hateful word back at those who use it as a crutch.
